Much of the day-to-day work of running the Wensleydale Railway is carried out by teams of fully trained volunteers who work under the supervision of specialists. Roles range from track inspection to working in our office, shops, buffet coach and teabar. Volunteers also play an important role on Special Event days, especially when excursion trains or Santa visit the Wensleydale Railway.
Volunteers also assist by writing and editing Relay, the quarterly magazine for supporters of the Wensleydale Railway; fund-raising and publicity activities; staffing stalls at various events such as the Yorkshire Show; and also by maintaining various websites including this one and the website of our supporters' organisation, the Wensleydale Railway Association.
Further information about volunteering opportunities on the Wensleydale Railway is available on the website of the Wensleydale Railway Association.
