By train
To reach us by train, travel by main line train to Northallerton and use the connecting bus service to join our trains at Leeming Bar station. Connecting bus times are shown on the timetable page, and directions to and from the bus stops at Northallerton station and at Leeming Bar are provided below.
Northallerton station is well served with direct trains from many main line destinations including Newcastle, Durham, Darlington, Middlesbrough, Thirsk, York, Leeds, Manchester and London. Northallerton services are operated by TransPennine Express, East Coast and Grand Central Railway.
If you are travelling by Arriva Cross Country then you will need to change trains at either Darlington or York as their trains do not stop at Northallerton.
While waiting at Northallerton station, call into our station kiosk for hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, cakes, biscuits, sweets and newspapers. The kiosk is normally open from 6.30 am to 3 pm on Mondays to Fridays and 8 am to 1 pm on Saturdays.
By bus
Buses from Northallerton to Leeming Bar
The bus stop at Northallerton station is outside the main entrance across the road and close to the gates to County Hall. Use the pelican crossing to cross the road.
At Leeming Bar alight from the bus at the stop opposite the White Rose Hotel (immediately after the mini-roundabout in Leeming Bar). To get to the station from the bus stop, cross the main road using the pelican crossing, turn right and follow the road around to the left: the station is now ahead, on your left. When returning to Northallerton, turn right out of the station and follow the pavement past the Simply Dutch shop to the bus stop just beyond the White Rose Hotel.
In addition to the linking bus services between Northallerton and Leeming Bar, Dales & District service 73 provides a roughly half-hourly interval service throughout the day on weekdays. On Sundays, service 156/157 runs every two hours.
Postbus service 364 runs between Northallerton and Hawes three times a day on Monday-Friday.
Buses from elsewhere
Wensleydale Vintage Bus service 127 runs from 4 April to 1 November 2009 on Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays between Ripon, Leyburn, Redmire, Hawes and Garsdale. It connects with Wensleydale Railway services at Redmire.
