bedale imagesBedale station is located just five minutes’ walk from the Market Place where you will find a good range of shops, pubs and attractions together with the historic Church of St Gregory and the parkland around Bedale Hall.

Bedale station lies between Aiskew and Bedale on the A684. The station entrance is alongside the level crossing, on the other side of the road from the signal box.  Bedale station’s postcode for your GPS is DL8 1AW.

Station facilities

Tickets
Bedale Station is staffed on busier days.  At other times, just board the train and purchase your ticket from our on-train staff.

Refreshments
Hot and cold drinks and snacks are available in the waiting room on days when the station is staffed.  Bedale Community Bakery, located in the station building, is open from Tuesday to Saturday and sells a small range of take-away food.

Bus links
Local bus services to Northallerton, villages around Bedale and to Masham operate from Bedale Market Place.

Toilets
There are toilets (including an accessible toilet) at the station, open on days when trains are running.

Parking
There is no parking at the station but there are two pay-and-display (50p) public car parks nearby.  These are located between the station and the town centre just over the river bridge. The car parks are well signposted from the main road.

Things to do

Shops, cafés and public houses
Bedale Market Place offers a range of shops, cafés and public houses in an historic setting.  The Market Place is about five minutes’ walk from the station.  To reach it turn left on leaving the station, cross the bridge and follow the lane to the right of G Dawkins & Son’s motorcycle shop (Emgate) into the Market Place.

Attractions
Bedale has a number of attractions to visit as part of your day out on the train.

Bread Actually (Bedale Community Bakery)
Located in the station building, the Bakery sells a range of breads and snacks.  See the bakers at work while you wait for your train !

Big Sheep & Little Cow Farm Attraction
An interactive farm visitor centre located next to the station.  Discounted admission is available for holders of Wensleydale Railway tickets.

The Leech House
Located next to the river bridge, just a short walk from the station. This was originally used for storing leeches required for medical use.

St Gregory's Church
Dominating the North end of the Market Place.  On certain days it is possible to climb to the top of the tower.

Bedale Museum
A interesting collection of bygones housed in the elegant surroundings of Bedale Hall.  Pride of place and the original inspiration for the museum is an ancient wooden fire engine dating from 1748.

Bedale Hall and Park
18th century hall now housing the library, museum and tourist information centre.  Adventure playground for children and great for short walks in the park.

Did you know?

Bedale station has seen many royal visitors as it has been used for overnight stops for the royal train many times.  Both the Queen and the late Queen Mother have visited. 

Bedale signal box is a listed building and is the best preserved box on the line.
